Empress Royalty Corp. (TSXV:EMPR) - EPS Understates a Q2/26 Beat; Guidance Reaffirmed - Research Portal
Empress Royalty (EMPR) reported its Q2/26 financial results. Earnings were US$0.57M (US$0.00/sh) vs. our US$0.025/sh estimate. Revenue came in at US$8.2M (-10% QoQ, +115% YoY) on payable AuEq of 1,821oz at ~US$4,500/oz gold beating our 1,707 oz estimate by ~7%, while income from operations rose 160% YoY to US$4.47M. EMPR maintains its 2026 guidance of 7,045-7,430oz AuEq. The result seems like a miss, but we view it as a paper loss. EMPR deliberately retained a portion of its Q2 metals, growing its gold and silver inventories, and the mark to market losses would reverse if prices recovered. That metal is already booked as revenue on delivery, so a later sale is not a second revenue event. We understand the hold given the recent price decline that management expects to reverse, though royalty companies are bought for predictable cash flow, not price exposure. At C$0.95 EMPR trades at ~4.2x our 2026E EV/EBITDA against royalty peers at 26.2x, and at a 1.31x NAV against peers at 1.42x. The EBITDA gap looks wider than the NAV gap, as our NAV already prices the finite stream lives, and earnings volatility is not what drives the discount, which was just as wide before EMPR began holding the metal.
