Karnataka Congress replaces deputy speaker candidate, placates OBC community
Congress replaced its deputy speaker nominee, A S Ponnanna, with Mankal Vaidya. This change aims to consolidate smaller other backward class communities within the party. Vaidya, from the Mogaveera community, filed his nomination papers for the deputy speaker post. The party also retained Umashree as its deputy chairman candidate for the legislative council. Chief Minister Shivakumar assured a woman's induction into his cabinet soon.
