Someone has urinated among the microfilms at the University Library in Uppsala, UNT reports. And repeatedly. Now there is a risk that old newspaper material has been damaged.
At the University Library in Uppsala, someone has urinated all over the newspaper archive – and probably repeatedly. The library's conservators are currently going through thousands of microfilms to see how much damage has been done.
This spring, employees at Carolina Rediviva made a nasty discovery: several hundred meters of microfilm, which preserves Swedish newspapers through the ages, had been urinated on. “We don’t know how long it’s been going on, but it seems like it’s been happening for a long time,” says Cecilia Natvig, department head at Carolina Rediviva.
Pissed-on film reels have been discovered at the Uppsala Library Carolina Rediviva, writes Upsala Nya Tidning.
