The dead fish are currently being recovered by firefighters from the State Fire Service and the Volunteer Fire Service, as well as members of the Polish Angling Association.
For several days, fish have been dying in the Wkra River near Żuromin in Mazovia due to low oxygen levels. Firefighters, firefighters, and residents of nearby villages and towns are fishing out the dead fish and attempting to aerate the river. "Help our Wkra, our nature," appeals the mayor of Żuromin, Michał Bodenszac.
A tragedy is unfolding on the Wkra River, the causes of which have yet to be fully determined. The water has taken on a rusty hue, and life is slowly fading from it. Residents, firefighters, and anglers are desperately fighting to save the fish.
