Detained Malian journalist Ras Bath rejects charges as trial opens
The trial of Malian commentator Youssouf Bathily, known as Ras Bath, and activist Rose opened on August 10 before the Bamako Court of Appeal, with both denying accusations of criminal association and undermining state institutions.
Ten years' imprisonment was required on Tuesday, August 11, against Malian activist Ras Bath, who appeared at her trial alongside activist Rose Vie Chère, after three years of pre-trial detention. Accused, among other things, of violating the credit of the state, the famous columnist courageously delivered a profession of constitutional faith, according to the press.
At the Ras Bath trial, he was the father of the activist who led the college of lawyers for his defence. In black robe, Mohammed Ali Bathily was well present for his son-client. On the second day, the prosecutor's office called for a firm prison, the defense prepares to attack the required 10 years.
