New Person of Interest Identified over 40 Years After 8-Year-Old Girl Went Missing
An anonymous tip and a $15,000 reward prompted renewed search efforts and the identification of a new person of interest in the 40-year-old disappearance case.
- On Wednesday, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office announced that Warren G. Williams Jr. is a person of interest in the disappearance of 8-year-old Christy Luna, who vanished on May 27, 1984, in Greenacres during a 1 p.m. press conference.
- Shortly after the documentary Finding Christy Luna, deputies received an anonymous tip and on Feb. 25 excavated a north side of the City of Lake Worth Beach backyard, finding no human remains with Florida Gulf Coast University anthropologists' help.
- Williams was seen at Belk's General Store the day Christy vanished, denied knowing her in a 2010 interview, served a six-year Florida state prison sentence, and died in an Alabama prison in 2016.
- Detectives said they have not confirmed Williams's involvement and urged the public to call Detective Bill Springer at 561-688-4013 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS, offering a $15,000 reward.
- Investigators previously probed several suspects with histories of child sexual abuse, including William Ferris, Chuck and Willis Rambo, and Victor George Wonyetye, while earlier digs near Christy's home found only animal bones and a 2019 tip kept the case active.
