Series of Woodland Fires Near Harlow 'Started Deliberately'
Fire crews say the blazes are diverting resources and putting lives at risk as dry weather heightens the danger.
- Lincolnshire Police are investigating six deliberately-lit fires in Stamford over the past two weeks, with the latest occurring Tuesday night at the Freemen Meadow. Firefighters prevented the blaze from spreading to nearby houses.
- Earlier this month, crews attended blazes on Kesteven Road and Churchill Road on July 10, with two additional fires at an Emmanuel Road property over the weekend of July 18. Both are being investigated as arson.
- Emergency workers warn that deliberate fires drain critical resources during prolonged dry weather. "It puts lives at risk, threatens homes, wildlife and businesses, and ties up firefighters who may be needed at other emergencies," they added.
