Saab Orders Triple on Gripen E and GlobalEye Deals
The Swedish defense group booked SEK 65.8 billion in orders, with a Gripen deal for Ukraine and a GlobalEye sale driving the surge.
On Friday, October 23, 2026, Swedish defense company Saab reported strong third-quarter earnings, with new orders surging to $6.6 billion, more than triple the prior year.
Major contracts drove the surge, including a $2.5 billion agreement for 16 Gripen E fighter jets for Ukraine signed in June and a $1 billion order for two GlobalEye airborne early warning and control aircraft.
Quarterly sales rose 30.6% organically to $2.1 billion, while operating income jumped 42% to $197 million, beating FactSet expectations of 1.9 billion kronor.
Saab CEO Micael Johansson said "growing customer demand is reflected in major contract awards," as the company's order backlog climbed to $36.7 billion by September's end.
Potential deals with NATO, the Netherlands, and Canada position Saab for future growth, while Middle Eastern GlobalEye deliveries arrive in 2030 and Germany orders support long-term momentum.
Defense group Saab's order intake tripled in the third quarter compared to the corresponding quarter last year. Profits are rising sharply, as expected.
