Deep Elected CEO of General Dynamics, Novakovic to Executive Chairman
Deep, a 25-year company veteran, will take over as demand stays strong for General Dynamics’ defense and aerospace products, Reuters reported.
On Wednesday, General Dynamics announced that President Danny Deep will become CEO on January 1, 2027, succeeding longtime chief executive Phebe Novakovic, who will transition to executive chairman.
Deep, a 25-year company veteran, became president in 2025, a move industry watchers viewed as signaling he was next in line for the top role; his experience spans land systems, combat systems, and global operations.
Under Novakovic's leadership since 2013, General Dynamics generated $52.6 billion in revenue in 2025; recent quarterly profits reached $4.24 per share, surpassing analysts' estimate of $3.97.
Following the recent departure of Amy Gilliland, head of General Dynamics Information Technology , Deep stated he is "profoundly honored to be selected as the next CEO" and grateful for board confidence.
The transition occurs amid sustained global demand for defense and aerospace products, which range from Gulfstream jets and nuclear submarines to cyber tools and combat vehicles.
