Alkane Finds Deeper Gold Potential at Peak Hill

Alkane plans six more diamond holes after a 1,651m drill hit suggested Peak Hill mineralisation may extend deeper, the company said.

  • On Wednesday, Alkane Resources Limited announced exploration results from its Peak Hill Gold Project in New South Wales, revealing a deep diamond drill hole that intersected gold-copper mineralisation approximately 1km beneath the former Proprietary open pit.
  • Alkane mined Peak Hill's oxide zone from 1998 to 2005, and the project is currently under care and maintenance. A $165,000 NSW Government exploration grant supported this latest deep-drilling program to investigate a deeper copper-gold porphyry system.
  • The 1,651m diamond drill hole PHD084 intersected alteration and low-grade mineralisation indicating the epithermal gold system extends to significant depth. Drilling returned 153m at 0.11g/t gold and 0.02% copper from 1,427m, including 4.8m at 0.46g/t gold and 0.06% copper.
  • Alkane will mobilise a rig to Peak Hill in November to complete six additional diamond drill holes totaling 6,600m. The company expects final assay results from this follow-up campaign in 2027.
  • Further drilling aims to delineate the epithermal gold deposit's scale while vectoring toward a potential copper-gold porphyry system at depth. Managing Director Nic Earner confirmed the company is evaluating the proximity of possible porphyry intrusives before commencing additional testing.
