Dedicated gang enforcement team launched for Northern B.C.
The new unit builds on 39 deployments and more than $1.2 million in seizures to target organized crime and firearm-related violence, RCMP said.
On Thursday, Oct. 15, the RCMP officially launched the North District Uniform Gang Enforcement Team at the BC RCMP North District headquarters in Prince George to combat organized crime across northern British Columbia.
Between 2020 and summer 2026, Acting Officer in Charge of the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia Supt. Ryan Element noted 39 deployments were made to northern communities to support local policing.
The North District covers 72 per cent of the province and serves more than 35 communities; operations from 2023 to 2025 seized more than $1.2 million in illicit proceeds, 192 firearms, and 194 kilograms of illegal drugs.
CFSEU-BC media relations officer Sgt. Sarbjit Kaur Sangha stated organized crime has no jurisdictional boundaries, adding the team will use intelligence-led, proactive enforcement to target offenders exploiting vulnerable individuals.
North District RCMP acting assistant district officer Insp. Darren Woroshelo called the launch an important step in strengthening public safety, establishing a constant presence to target offenders involved in organized crime and violence.
