After the almost unanimous rejection of the text in the National Assembly, the assumption of a special finance law took shape. But the Minister of Public Accounts said on Sunday that she still believes in a "possible compromise".
In the event of a lack of agreement on the 2026 budget, the government may have a special law passed allowing the renewal of the current budget for the first months of next year.
Unpublished in the Fifth Republic: almost all of the Assembly rejected the state budget on the night of Friday to Saturday. The vote on a budget before 31 December appears to be very uncertain and the assumption of a special finance law takes shape.
The Minister of Public Accounts calls for a parliamentary compromise on the budget, considering the "special law" possible to ensure the continuity of public finances, but as a final resort to the heavy economic consequences.
