Deafheaven Surprise Release New EP At Work in the Fields of the Bomb
The three-track release is Deafheaven’s first new music since 2025 and draws on Robert Del Tredici’s book about nuclear weapons production.
- On Friday, California black metal band Deafheaven surprise-released a new EP via Roadrunner Records, marking their first new music since Lonely People With Power.
- The EP borrows its title and concept from photographer Robert Del Tredici's book documenting The Bomb production, exploring the unsettling contrast between catastrophic consequences and mundane actions.
- Arthur Rizk produced the effort as a ferocious black metal sound drawing comparisons to Beherit and Immortal, while unlike their last LPs, this release features no guest appearances.
- Singer George Clarke noted the band wanted to treat the release like a pop or rap record, bypassing traditional rollout while performing across North America with Mastodon.
- Deafheaven will continue touring with Mastodon through the rest of 2026, with the Poisonous Weapons tour set to conclude in Atlanta on the 22nd.
