The National Government activated a support package for Tolima, with subsidies for rural housing, productive resources and humanitarian aid, following the public calamity of forest fires that have affected about 50,000 hectares. De la Espriella’s entry activates subsidies and fire aid in Tolima was first published in Nación Paisa.
The Colombian president, Abelardo de la Espriella, ordered this Thursday to form a “special elite group” to persecute those responsible for the fires that in recent weeks have consumed more than 20,000 hectares of forest and crops, mainly in the department of Tolima (center).
The president offered a reward of up to 50 million pesos (approximately $16,000) to those who provide accurate information to facilitate the arrest of those involved.
