Daryz's hopes of repeat Arc win boosted by draw
Daryz’s team said the stall gives him an edge as he targets a second Arc victory and a €2.8 million winner’s prize.
- On Sunday, Daryz attempts to become the ninth horse to win the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe twice, breaking from stall five at ParisLongchamp. The defending champion races against 15 rivals for a 2.8 million euros prize.
- Trainer Francis-Henri Graffard welcomed the favorable draw after Thursday's stall assignment, noting stablemate Varandir will race nearby in stall four. Graffard said, "Both have a good draw, so I am relieved."
- Three contenders from record-breaking Irish trainer Aidan O'Brien's stable face varying fortunes: Minnie Hauk in stall 10 and Diamond Necklace in stall 16. Veteran jockey Yutaka Take rides Meisho Tabaru, seeking the first Japanese victory.
- Jockey Mickael Barzalona praised the field's distribution, stating, "Five is a pretty good draw, especially when you look at how the good horses are spread out." Maltese Cross must overcome stall 11's recent hoodoo.
- History beckons for Daryz, who aims to become the first horse to win successive Arcs since Enable in 2017/18. He would also be the first colt to achieve the feat since Irish star Alleged nearly half a century ago.
