Jeff Winther Holds Off Rasmus Hojgaard to Win Danish Open
Winther closed with a 68 to finish at 206, while Rasmus Højgaard carded 207 and Caleb Surratt tied for third at 205, officials said.
On Sunday, 38-year-old Jeff Winther captured the Danish Golf Championship at Great Northern, shooting 5-under 67 to win by three shots and finish 15 under for the week.
Midway through the final round, six golfers held a share of the lead at 12 under, creating tight competition before Winther surged ahead with late heroics.
Winther drained an eagle putt on the par-4 16th after driving the green, while compatriot Rasmus Hojgaard chipped in for eagle at No. 17. Both energized the home crowd.
Five players finished in a tie for second place: Hojgaard, Matthew Jordan, Yanhan Zhou, Filippo Celli, and Oliver Lindell, each trailing the champion by three strokes.
Winning his home championship ranks "just after my kids' birth," Winther said, marking his second European tour title five years after the 2021 Mallorca Open.
