The Dane County Board approved an 18-month moratorium on so-called “hyperscale” data centers similar to the $12 billion QTS facility rejected by the village of DeForest.
County board OKs pause on data centers
At its Thursday, June 4 meeting, the Dane County Board of Supervisors voted to approve a temporary halt on permits for hyperscale data centers in unincorporated areas of the county. According to a county news release, the measure prevents the receipt of applications for, and the granting of, any zoning permits related to the placement or construction of hyperscale data centers for the next 18 months.
