Norwegian citizen found dead in Riga canal

Rescuers have found a man in a river after several days of search operations in Latvia's capital Riga on Wednesday, where a Norwegian man has been missing.

On September 12, the Riga East Department of the State Police announced a search for Sondre Schwemcke Lersbryggen, a missing Norwegian citizen born in 2004. On September 16, the man was pulled dead from a canal in Riga, the State Police informs.

A 22-year-old man who had been missing since Saturday has been found dead in the Latvian capital. The newspaper, which has been in contact with Latvian police, writes that the discovery was made on Wednesday, around 100 meters from where he was last seen. The police's main theory is that it was an accident. The 22-year-old was part of a tour group and is said to have been on a work trip.
