Ohio Couple Faces Charges After Cruise Cabin Assault in Florida
Authorities say the Ohio couple was drinking before forcing into a family’s cabin and injuring three people, including a 9-year-old child.
- On Saturday, Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey arrested Ohio residents Gannon Jacox and Brooklyn Hicks at Port Canaveral after they allegedly forced entry into a family's cruise cabin, assaulting three people including a 9-year-old child.
- The altercation began after Jacox and Hicks, who had been "arguing loudly after taking advantage of some adult beverages," confronted a neighboring family who asked them to lower their volume, according to Ivey.
- Arrest affidavits state Jacox forced his way through the cabin door and struck all three victims repeatedly with closed fists, while Hicks joined the fray after Jacox instructed her to "beat up" the passengers.
- Jacox faces charges of burglary with battery and child abuse without great bodily harm, while Hicks faces burglary with battery and battery-touch/strike; Jacox is held on a $31,000 bond, while Hicks is held on a $6,000 bond.
- Sheriff Ivey warned that unruly behavior on cruise ships will not be tolerated in Brevard County, joking that the suspects will enjoy an "extended stay at their unplanned destination" with "no drink packages" or excursions.
