Stefano Mazzoli of Italy Rallies to Win Corales Puntacana Championship
The Italian closed with a 6-under 66 and a 24-foot birdie on 18 to edge Todd Clements by one stroke.
Stefano Mazzoli won the Corales Puntacana Championship on Sunday for his first PGA Tour victory, finishing at 20-under 268 after sinking a 24-foot birdie putt on the final hole.
Entering the final round four strokes behind Todd Clements, the 29-year-old Mazzoli surged on the back nine, moving into contention before his birdie on the par-4 18 secured the one-stroke victory.
Clements, who led through three days, finished tied for second at 19-under 269 with Gordon Sargent after playing the final six holes in three over, including a double bogey on the back nine.
Following the win, Mazzoli accepted PGA Tour membership, earning a card through 2027 and jumping to 39th in the Race to Dubai standings. "I'm just grateful and honored to win on tour," Mazzoli said.
Elsewhere, 19-year-old Blades Brown tied for 11th at 15-under, while Ben James and Will Gordon finished at 18-under. Mazzoli plans to play the tour next year and see where it goes.
