In view of the growing threats from abroad, Hessen's constitutional protection is emerging with its own espionage unit. Hessen is a potential target for espionage, sabotage or cyberattacks, said Interior Minister Roman Poseck (CDU) in Wiesbaden. This is due to its central location and economic strength. The airport and the Internet hub in Frankfurt as well as military properties made the country interesting for foreign intelligence services.
