Columbia Suspends Coach Megan Griffith for 3 Games After Review of Coaching Behavior
The review followed a complaint about her coaching behavior, and Columbia said the case did not involve NCAA, Title IX or discrimination violations.
On Thursday, Columbia University suspended women's basketball coach Megan Griffith for the first three games after a review determined her coaching interactions did not align with expectations.
An external firm conducted the review after the university received a complaint about Griffith's coaching behavior during practices from a previous season.
Griffith, the winningest coach in Columbia history and a three-time Ivy League Coach of the Year, compiled a 171-99 record over her 11-year career, leading the Lions to two NCAA Tournament bids.
Griffith will miss the school's opening game on November 2 against Davidson, plus a Nashville tournament featuring Rhode Island and Belmont.
The Lions, who won the WBIT last season, face a challenging schedule this year with top teams Duke and Michigan visiting New York.
