Collector Selling Hundreds of John Deere Tractor Toys to ‘Make Space’ for More
Peter Green is selling the collection without reserve, and Cheffins expects strong interest after some models were estimated at £300 to £500 each.
Retired building surveyor Peter Green will auction more than 500 John Deere tractor toys and implements at Cheffins, with every toy offered without reserve.
Starting 12 years ago with a dealer in Indiana, USA, Green amassed around 900 items at his peak before deciding to sell and 'make space for the other part of my collection.'
Most of the models were manufactured by ERTL, including Custom-built pieces such as a John Deere 425 Hay Cuber and a Number 22 Cotton Picker, with highest value items estimated at £300 to £500 apiece.
Cheffins associate Ted Shepherd noted this is among the 'most expansive John Deere toy collections' seen, expecting significant interest from collectors both domestically and internationally.
Interested in tractors from a very young age, Green initially collected tractor leaflets and pamphlets before the 'collecting bug' led him to John Deere toys, and he now focuses on his other Collections.
