Regina Pilot Killed in Air Ambulance Crash Remembered for Life-Saving Career
Prairie College said the 23-year-old graduate was among six people aboard the missing air ambulance jet, which is now presumed crashed.
On October 3, 2026, an air ambulance jet carrying six people, including First Officer Thomas Henry Farquhar, crashed en route from Bermuda to Boston, with debris discovered off Nantucket, Mass.
The Farquhar family established the Tommy Farquhar Aviation Scholarship Fund at Alberta-based Prairie College to support future pilots who share his passion for aviation and commitment to serving others.
Latitude Air Ambulance remembered Farquhar, a 2023 graduate of the Prairie Aviation Training Centre, as a "gentle giant" who met his wife, Kayla, while training in Alberta.
The United States Coast Guard suspended its search on October 4 after discovering aircraft debris, while the Transportation Safety Board of Canada continues investigating the crash with Latitude cooperating fully.
Prairie College president and CEO Mark L. Maxwell stated, "Learning of Tommy's death has left a hole in many hearts," as the school community mourns alongside the Farquhar family and Kayla.
