Possible Listeria contamination prompts recall of Coaticook cheeses

- Health Canada announced a recall Monday for 33 packaged cheese products from Coaticook Ltd due to potential Listeria contamination affecting items sold in Quebec.
- Based in Coaticook, about 170 kilometres southeast of Montreal, the 86-year-old Laiterie initiated the voluntary recall after identifying potential microbial contamination in white cheddar products.
- Listeria can cause Symptoms including persistent fever, nausea, vomiting, muscle aches, and neck stiffness. Vulnerable populations such as Pregnant individuals and the elderly face particular risk.
- Clients are advised not to consume, use, or sell any Recalled products. Health Canada recommends discarding items or returning them to the location of purchase.
- No illnesses have been reported to date. If Symptoms develop after consuming a product, individuals should contact their health-care provider or call Info-Sant at 811 for assistance.
