Cleveland Cavaliers’ social media team trolls Drake, Raptors after Game 7 win
Cleveland posted ice-themed graphics and a fake scan after the 114-102 win, turning Drake’s album rollout into a postgame jab.
On Sunday, the Cleveland Cavaliers eliminated the Toronto Raptors 114-102 in Game 7, then mocked the Raptors' global ambassador Drake by posting a fake ice-block parody of his viral "Iceman" album rollout.
The Cavaliers' social media team posted a fake "cross section scan" of an ice block, directly parodying the mysterious structure Drake had planted in downtown Toronto two weeks earlier to tease his new album, "Iceman."
Toronto played without starters Brandon Ingram and Immanuel Quickley due to injuries. Despite the playoff exit, guard RJ Barrett said the team made a "huge, huge jump" from last year, signaling progress despite the loss.
During the final minutes, the arena DJ played Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us," a diss track aimed at Drake. Cleveland center Jarrett Allen led his team with 22 points and 19 rebounds.
The Cavaliers advance to face the Detroit Pistons in the second round of the NBA playoffs. Drake's album is set to release on May 15, following the viral marketing campaign that drew the Cavaliers' parody response.
