Former NATO commander in Europe Wesley Clark told the Hague trial of former KLA leader Hashim Thaci, accused of war crimes in Kosovo and Albania in 1998-99, that Thaci did not control the KLA at the time and was a political figure. In a written statement, introduced into evidence, Clark also claimed that Thaci had no motive for violence against Serbs in the summer of 1999 after Serbian forces withdrew from Kosovo.
