Woman who fell from window fleeing Nottingham attacker warned he could have killed her
A public inquiry reviews police and clinical decisions after a woman sustained serious spinal injuries fleeing a suspect who was later convicted of multiple killings.
- A London hearing at Mary Ward House is examining missed intervention opportunities before the June 13, 2023 attacks, with more than 100 witnesses expected over nine weeks.
- PC Richard Marsden sought clinical advice from Dr Faizal Seedat, `not in touch with reality', prompting a decision not to progress the case, despite Nottinghamshire Police policy requiring CPS referral.
- In Brook Court, Radford, on 24 May 2023, police told an anonymous 22-year-old woman she could not be prosecuted due to Calocane's mental health after she fell 10 to 12ft and was hospitalized.
- Valdo Calocane admitted manslaughter by diminished responsibility and was sentenced to an indefinite hospital order in January 2024 after killing University of Nottingham students Barnaby Webber and Grace O'Malley-Kumar and caretaker Ian Coates in June 2023.
- Police officers who dealt with Calocane are expected to testify on Thursday, February 26, as the inquiry hears evidence until June this year and will give recommendations in 2027, Deborah Taylor said.
