NFL Players Help Build Mobility Ramp for Veteran in Need
Several Bengals players, staff members and cheerleaders helped build a mobility ramp for an 81-year-old Navy veteran and his wife.
Cincinnati Bengals players and cheerleaders joined Operation Ramp It Up volunteers to build a 25-foot aluminum mobility ramp for 81-year-old Navy veteran Ken Wackenthaler and his wife in Liberty Twp.
The project, part of the Bengals Care community outreach program, marks the sixth year of partnership with the non-profit to support veterans through the NFL's Salute to Service initiative.
Bengals offensive lineman Dalton Risner helped assemble the seven-piece structure, stating, "I wouldn't be able to play the game that I love if it wasn't for people that fight for our country."
Ken Wackenthaler said the new ramp with handrails provides critical assistance, replacing a previous structure from about 15 months ago that lacked essential safety features for wheelchair accessibility.
Completed in about two-and-a-half hours, the installation involved teammates Ted Karras and Cedric Johnson alongside cheerleaders Ashley Martinez and Abora Wyenandt, demonstrating broad team commitment to community service.
