‘Chucky’ Creator Fires Back At Nicki Minaj for Making the Killer Doll a Republican in ‘Vote Red’ Post: ‘Chucky Has a Trans Kid and Is Anti-ICE’
Don Mancini said Chucky would back Democrats after Nicki Minaj shared an AI image of the doll urging fans to vote Republican.
- On Tuesday, rapper Nicki Minaj posted an AI-generated image of horror icon Chucky wearing a "Vote Red" button. Franchise creator Don Mancini quickly rebuked the post, calling Minaj an "imposter" and rejecting the character's association with the MAGA movement.
- Mancini asserted that Chucky is "part of the blue wave that will wash away all the corruption," emphasizing the character's canonical transgender child as evidence of his progressive values. The creator rejected any MAGA alignment for his franchise.
- Minaj, a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump, endorsed several Republican candidates who lost during Tuesday's elections. Democrats regained control of both the Senate and House of Representatives, making her political endorsements unsuccessful.
- Mancini posted a photo of Chucky with blue hair and captioned it "Too bad, Nicki," further distancing his franchise from the rapper's partisan stance. The creator's intervention made clear his character would not align with her political messaging.
- This exchange follows a difficult election cycle for Minaj, as deep-red states like Texas and Kansas flipped blue for the first time in decades. The conflict exposes friction between the rapper's political alignment and the established identity of her favorite pop-culture character.
