Triple Premiership Coach Makes Call on AFL Future
The three-time premiership coach will support rookie coach Josh Fraser and add a match-day role after Carlton beat several rivals for his services.
On Friday, triple-premiership coach Chris Fagan joined Carlton as director of coaching for 2027. The 65-year-old was signed to the newly created role after stepping down from Brisbane.
Fagan departed Brisbane last month after leading the Lions to three consecutive premierships. The veteran coach chose to move to Victoria to be closer to his family, selecting Carlton over rival clubs.
The Blues created the position to support first-time senior coach Josh Fraser. "Supporting people to get the absolute best out of themselves," Fagan said, emphasizing his mentorship of the coaching panel.
Carlton's general manager of football Chris Davies hailed the signing, stating, "We want to build our football club around good people." Davies expects Fagan to drive an elite, sustainable program.
Fagan will provide full-time mentorship and a match-day component to the coaching group throughout the week. His arrival aims to establish development pathways for coaches while supporting Fraser's direction.
