China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week 2026 Unveils Major Initiatives
Organizers unveiled a smart education project, a vocational competency network and new entrepreneurship and recognition standards to expand regional training and mobility.
The 2026 China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week recently commenced in Guiyang, Guizhou Province, under the theme "Empowering a Community of Friendship through Smart Education."
Since its 2008 inception, CAECW has evolved into a regionally influential framework, drawing over 54,000 participants from nearly 90 countries and involving more than 8,000 institutions across ASEAN and Belt and Road Initiative partners.
Organizers launched the China-ASEAN Smart Education Capacity Building Project supporting China's "AI + Education" Action Plan, and released the International Mutual Recognition Framework for TVET Learning Outcomes establishing standardized protocols for cross-border mobility.
Simultaneously, the Guiyang-Guian International Talent Entrepreneurship Park opened, hosting 15 startups founded by ASEAN students, as Guizhou Province released accreditation standards for "Guijiang Workshops" to export vocational education models.
Notably, six of 60 planned year-round projects will be hosted by ASEAN nations including Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, and Indonesia, fostering an ecosystem defined by "co-organization, sharing, and win-win outcomes.
