Chilliwack ultrarunner earns Best of B.C. athletic award

Ihor Verys, a 30-year-old ultrarunner from Chilliwack, will receive the Best of B.C. Award for his achievements, including winning the Barkley Marathons in 2024.
The B.C. Athlete of the Year Awards, hosted by Sport BC, will take place in Vancouver on March 6.
Verys finished the Barkley Marathons in 58 hours, 44 minutes, and 59 seconds, a race where few complete the daunting course.
Originally from Ukraine, Verys has embraced running to manage stress after relocating to Canada in 2015.
