Report: Chiefs Bringing Back DE Emmanuel Ogbah
The reunion gives Kansas City a veteran pass rusher who knows Steve Spagnuolo’s scheme and must still earn a roster spot.
- On Tuesday, the Kansas City Chiefs signed defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah to a one-year contract, reuniting with the veteran who won a Super Bowl ring during the 2019 season.
- Ogbah spent five seasons with the Miami Dolphins, recording 29.5 sacks, before playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars last year, accumulating 48 career sacks since being drafted in 2016.
- General manager Brett Veach sought additional depth for a defensive end rotation that remained thin, and Ogbah's familiarity with defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo's system "always made sense for Kansas City," analysts noted.
- While George Karlaftis remains the lone surefire starter, the veteran presence helps set a floor for younger edge rushers like Ashton Gillotte and Felix Anudike-Uzomah in the rotation.
- Saturday's preseason opener against the Los Angeles Rams at Arrowhead Stadium gives the 32-year-old Ogbah several weeks to integrate before the regular season begins on September 14.
