Celtic Fans Call on Dermot Desmond to Make 20-Year First as Board Accusation Made
The supporter group says his absence has left fans without accountability as tensions rise over the club’s direction and European decline.
The Celtic Fans Collective has publicly demanded that major shareholder Dermot Desmond attend the 2026 AGM in person to answer questions about his role in running Celtic Football Club.
Desmond has not attended a Celtic AGM for 20 years, instead deploying representatives including his son Ross Desmond to take his place at shareholder meetings.
Last year's meeting was cut short by former club chairman Peter Lawwell following disruption, prompting the Collective to state this year's focus must be "scrutiny rather than protest."
Relations escalated last month when members threw tennis balls at the 76-year-old at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, prompting the Club to describe the protest as "unacceptable."
The umbrella body representing 168 supporters' organisations awaits the AGM date, which requires 21 days' notice to shareholders before the year-end meeting can occur.
