Celebrating Flag Day: WoodmenLife Honors America 250 By Presenting U.S. Flags to Communities Across the Country
WoodmenLife is sending 250 commemorative flags to communities nationwide in a four-week tour that ends with a Flag Day display at its headquarters.
On Monday, May 11, WoodmenLife launched a national tour in South Boston featuring commemorative Betsy Ross flags honoring America's 250th Birthday, with stops at 10 sites before arriving in Omaha for Flag Day.
For 80 years, Omaha-based WoodmenLife has presented flags to community groups and first responders; since 1947, the organization has distributed more than 4 million flags, establishing itself as a leading provider behind the United States government.
Annin Flagmakers produces the commemorative Betsy Ross flags featuring 13 stars encircling the number 250, while WoodmenLife representatives and South Boston Town Manager Matt Candland attended the initial ceremony.
WoodmenLife President and CEO Denise McCauley said, "WoodmenLife is proud to present 250 of these special commemorative flags to organizations and towns across the country, and to connect with amazing communities to celebrate the richness of our nation."
Each tour stop location will contribute an artifact representing their community to a time capsule, which will be archived in Omaha and opened on a future date to preserve this historical milestone.
