CDU social wing calls on Merz to compromise on pensions

Summary
The CDU's social wing is urging Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) to reach a compromise in the dispute over ending the so-called "retirement at 63." "The federal government should not insist on its far-reaching maximalist demands regarding pension reform. We in the CDU should also show flexibility here," Christian Bäumler, vice-chairman of the Christian Democratic Employees' Association (CDA), told the Tagesspiegel. "It would be good if the Chancellor reached a compromise with the state premiers as soon as possible, ideally in August."
