Karnataka has requested the CWMA to reduce the amount of water to be released to Tamil Nadu from 4,000 cusecs to 2,000 cusecs as inflows in Cauvery reservoirs have declined and only 49 TMC of water is available. The plea states that 47 taluks in the valley have been declared as severely drought-hit and significant water cannot be released from KRS and Kabini reservoirs.
