Taste of the Danforth Draws Huge Crowds Despite Safety Fears
Organizers say they worked with police and emergency services on a comprehensive safety plan as the festival returns after a two-year hiatus.
- Thousands of people flooded Danforth Avenue on Saturday for the second day of the Taste of the Danforth, a popular street food festival in Toronto's Greektown that returned after a two-year hiatus with enhanced security measures.
- Police vowed to increase security at major street festivals following a deadly shooting last month at the Salsa on St. Clair festival. Police announced on Friday that two 18-year-olds were charged with first-degree murder in the July 11 attack.

- Some festivalgoers like Saqeeb Hassan and Enzo Perez argued that Toronto's overall safety statistics remain unchanged, making it unnecessary to avoid such events despite the recent shooting.
