Grieving Parents Face Further Heartache After Daughter's Death Abroad
A fundraiser has raised more than £32,000 to help bring Annie Evans-Lewis home to Wales after she died in a car crash.
On May 23, 21-year-old Annie Evans-Lewis from Llanybri, Carmarthenshire, died following a car crash near Perth, Australia, after reportedly swerving off the road and colliding with a tree.
Evans-Lewis and boyfriend Cai James had moved 9,200 miles to Australia for farming work described as a "big opportunity," completing six 100-hour weeks of seeding before the accident.
Following the crash, Evans-Lewis was airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital, where she passed away as James held her hand; police are appealing for witnesses.
The family is battling to raise £35,000 to fly her body home to Wales for her funeral, with supporters already donating more than £31,000 via a fundraiser organized by cousin Emily Davies.
Mother Angharad Evans described her daughter as a "live wire who loved life," expressing gratitude as the family received a "massive amount of support" from over 1,000 donors worldwide.
