Canadian War Museum Acquires Type of Armoured Vehicle Used on Battlefield in Ukraine
The museum wanted a battle-used example, but Ukraine’s no-scrap policy led Roshel to donate a fresh Senator MRAP instead.
On Oct 28, 2026, Brampton-based defence manufacturer Roshel donated a Senator MRAP armoured vehicle to the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa, showcasing equipment currently deployed by Ukraine in its war with Russia.
The museum intended to acquire a vehicle with active service history, but because the government of Ukraine maintains a strict no-scrap policy, they received a new Senator MRAP fresh off the assembly line.
Roshel has supplied the Ukrainian military with more than 2,700 of its Senator vehicles since the Russian invasion began in 2022, establishing the manufacturer's critical role in the war-torn nation's defense.
Jim Whitham, the museum's director general, stated that institutions must prioritize collecting contemporary artifacts to preserve history, aligning with Canada's longstanding role in supplying military equipment to Ukraine.
Future exhibits may focus on cutting-edge battlefield technology used in Ukraine, such as drones, as Whitham noted the importance of documenting these modern advancements in military equipment.
