Canada Drops 4-3 Decision to Denmark in Women's Soccer Friendly in Toronto
Canada will honor the veteran left back with a milestone cap and send-off as it seeks a sharper finish before the CONCACAF W Championship.
- On Monday, veteran left back Allysha Chapman earned her 100th and final international cap for Canada, entering in the 89th minute as Denmark defeated the hosts 4-3 at BMO Field in Toronto.
- The 37-year-old from Courtice, Ontario, cemented her legacy helping Canada win bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics and gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, while representing the country at the 2015, 2019, and 2023 World Cups.
- Former head coach John Herdman called Chapman "one of the best one-vs-one defenders," while teammate Shelina Zadorsky praised her "100-per-cent effort, grit, determination" and relentless competitive spirit.
- Denmark's Olivia Holdt scored twice to lead the visitors to victory, with Pernille Harder and Janni Thomsen also tallying as Canadian defensive miscues created scoring opportunities for the Danes.
- Canada now pivots to the CONCACAF W Championship on November 28, a critical tournament serving as a qualifier for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
