Calgary council approves 8.9% residential property tax increase, slams provincial rate hike
Residential property taxes are set to increase by 8.9 per cent this year, despite what the city is calling the lowest municipal property tax rate hike of all major cities in Canada.
Calgary homeowners will see their property taxes increase by 8.9 per cent in 2025, though the city says it's the lowest municipal property tax hike of any major city in Canada. Calgary City Council approved the rate hike on Tuesday, March 18, after the Alberta government announced it would collect more property taxes to cover rising education costs.
