Perez Extends Cadillac Contract Until 2029
Cadillac said the 36-year-old Mexican will lead its F1 program for at least three more years as the team builds toward 2029.
On Wednesday, Cadillac confirmed that Sergio Perez signed a contract extension through 2029, coinciding with his 300th Grand Prix start at his home race in Mexico City this weekend.
Team CEO Dan Towriss said securing the veteran's "talent and leadership" provides necessary continuity while refining trackside operations across hubs in Silverstone, Indianapolis, and Charlotte.
Despite the three-year duration, the agreement grants Perez contractual freedom to conclude his career at any point, a move he called a "natural continuation" of his commitment to the project.
With Perez confirmed, uncertainty surrounds the second seat as Valtteri Bottas faces competition from Colton Herta for the 2027 lineup, though team sources prefer Bottas's stability.
Herta requires only one more FIA Super Licence point to become eligible for Formula 1, which he is set to earn during an FP1 appearance in Mexico this weekend.
There is still gas in the tank! ‘Checo’ Pérez announced his renovation with Cadillac until 2029, prior to his Show Run in Reforma, and promised to continue working to consolidate the F1 team.
