The integration lets suppliers capture and share required Key Data Elements automatically, reducing manual entry and easing compliance for smaller food companies.
On Thursday, May 28, 2026, iFoodDS and Markem-Imaje announced a partnership to simplify FSMA 204 compliance for food suppliers by transforming case labels into a 'data bridge' for automated traceability capture.
Many suppliers on the FDA's Food Traceability List lack dedicated IT teams, making FSMA 204 compliance a burden. This partnership removes adoption barriers without requiring complex enterprise IT projects or manual data entry.
Suppliers can use CoLOS and Trace Exchange to generate GS1 compliant barcodes encoding Key Data Elements directly on cases, creating a structured workflow for capturing and sharing traceability information.
"Suppliers shouldn't need enterprise IT projects to comply with FSMA 204," said Andrew Kennedy, Chief Traceability Officer at iFoodDS. Stephen Gryczka, Strategy and Corporate Development Director at Markem-Imaje, added the integration helps firms leverage existing infrastructure.
Markem-Imaje, a subsidiary of Dover Corporation, serves over 50,000 customers worldwide, positioning the partnership to enable broad FSMA-aligned labeling adoption and streamline traceability data sharing without manual record entry.
