Brussels asks Kiev to speed up fight against corruption

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen called on Ukraine to accelerate the fight against corruption, while also guaranteeing the support of the European Union on the “long road” to joining the bloc.

Speaking to the Ukrainian parliament by videoconference, Von der Leyen welcomed Kiev's adoption of a law aimed at undoing “the excessive influence of oligarchs on the economy” and called for the adoption of legislation on media independence, in line with EU standards.
