Over 99% of votes cast backed the plan, which will give eligible unitholders Class A subordinated voting shares in Brookfield Infrastructure Partners Inc.
On Wednesday, Brookfield Infrastructure Partners L.P. unitholders voted overwhelmingly to approve the proposed corporate structure "Simplification" at a special meeting held virtually earlier today.
The "Simplification" aims to improve consolidated trading liquidity and align with capital allocation trends, while eliminating onerous partnership tax reporting for many Canadian and U.S. investors.
Approximately 60% of outstanding BIP units were represented at the meeting, with over 99% of votes cast in favor of both the arrangement and limited partnership agreement resolutions.
Final approval from the Supreme Court of British Columbia is required before the company can complete its conversion into a Canadian corporation in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Brookfield Renewable Partners L.P. reminds BEP unitholders that their rescheduled special meeting for a similar "Simplification" is set for October 29, 2026, to provide additional time for voting.
