Brits urged to hunt for forgotten vouchers from 2 major retailers worth £125m
Shoppers are urged to check old cards and digital accounts as experts warn some balances could be lost if retailers enter administration.
High street fashion giants Next and ASOS currently hold a combined £125 million in unredeemed customer vouchers. Consumers are being urged to check their digital accounts, wallets, and inboxes for forgotten balances.
Finance expert Joe Lytwyn noted that vouchers are often easily forgotten because they are frequently given as gifts then buried in inboxes. Next reported £114.6 million in revenue linked to unspent gift cards, while ASOS holds £11.1 million.
Searching inboxes for keywords like "voucher," "store credit," "ASOS," and "Next" may help families find unused balances of £20, £50, or even £100 during the summer season.
Consumer experts warn that expiry dates vary between businesses, and retailer administration could treat gift card holders as unsecured creditors, potentially limiting recovery of remaining value.
For purchases over £100 made on credit cards, consumers may be protected under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act. Shoppers are encouraged to use cards strategically during seasonal sales to maximize value.
