U.K. man sentenced to 3.5 years for death of Owen Sound, Ont., restaurant owner
A joint Crown-defence submission calls for 42 months in prison after Evans Jr. pleaded guilty to manslaughter in Sharif Rahman’s death.
A British man, Robert Evans, was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison for the manslaughter of Sharif Rahman, a restaurant owner from Owen Sound, Ont., who died after Evans punched him over an unpaid bill.
Evans pleaded guilty alongside his father and uncle, who were extradited from the U.K. and sentenced for helping Evans flee Canada after the incident.
Evans apologized to Rahman's family, saying he didn't mean for the restaurant owner to die and that he thinks about the incident every night.
