Brewers Acquire Joel Kuhnel From A's as Brian Fitzpatrick Becomes 8th Pitcher on Injured List
Joel Kuhnel brings six seasons of major league experience and a 4.21 ERA, while Quinn Priester moves to the 60-day injured list.
On Saturday, the Milwaukee Brewers acquired right-handed pitcher Joel Kuhnel from the Athletics for cash, bolstering their pitching depth as they lead the National League Central.
Manager Pat Murphy placed pitcher Brian Fitzpatrick on the 15-day injured list Saturday after Fitzpatrick sustained a UCL strain during Friday's game against the Colorado Rockies.
Kuhnel, who holds a 4.21 ERA across 25 appearances this year, previously spent time within the Milwaukee organization during 2024 without appearing in a game.
Fitzpatrick becomes the eighth Milwaukee pitcher sidelined, prompting the team to transfer right-hander Quinn Priester to the 60-day injured list to clear a 40-man roster spot.
The team's pitching depth remains tested with several others on the injured list, including left-handers DL Hall and Rob Zastryzny, plus right-hander Brandon Woodruff.
